When guests are on their way, and the ‘Keep, don’t know where to put’ pile has nowhere to go
You’re the friend who remembers who’s gluten-free and keeps the good biscuits for visitors, so of course people love dropping by.
The trouble is, you’ve got too much stuff and no cohesive way to keep it in order. It feels like half of it doesn’t have a home (like that box you’ve been moving from one end of the dining room to the other since you moved in), so having people over means a mad rush to hide it all first.
Because life is hectic, dealing with all the random stuff gets put off until the last possible minute. Then you go flat out and panic tidy, and end up too stressed to have proper fun with your guests.
It’s already pretty clear to you that this merry-go-round of hosting anxiety will keep happening for as long as there’s more stuff than places to put it. So decluttering has been on the cards since about July, but somehow it just hasn’t happened yet.
And now the holidays are on the horizon again (how did this happen so quickly??), and there are more people popping in and more stuff is arriving (mostly in wrapping paper). Which is lovely, but also a lot.
What you might have tried already
Chances are, you've had a few goes at this before.
Maybe you set aside a whole Saturday and pulled everything out of the cupboard to do a big purge, and by 4pm you were surrounded by a bigger mess than when you started. Or you might have tried to create more storage, but now those tubs and containers are part of the clutter problem they were supposed to fix.
There might be a bestselling tidying book on your bedside table, where it's been for about a year (does it spark joy? Hard to say, it's still on the 'To Be Read' list). Or maybe you tried decluttering a few things a week (which lasted until about Week One-and-a-Half).
Why doing it on your own hasn't quite worked
These strategies can all be genuinely helpful, and plenty of people swear by them. But knowing the steps usually isn't the hard part (ugh).
And if you have ADHD (or wonder if you might), you know that Wanting to Do the Thing but Not Being Able to Do the Thing is one of the core struggles we experience every single day (it's been a thrilling sub-plot in the story of my life so far).
Getting professional help to declutter can mean the difference between knowing what to do and finally being able to do it.
You know where you want to go, you just need some help to get there
Perhaps what you want is help from someone you can imagine letting into your home (before you've tidied up), who won't ask you why the guest room is currently storing everything except guests.
You might also want someone to just take the planning off your plate and help you actually make it happen, so you can save your energy and brainpower for the decisions only you can make.
That's what Company Ready is for.
Over a few weeks, we'll work on the room that's been making you say "Sorry about the mess!" every time someone walks in, so you can open the door these holidays without the frantic pre-guest shuffle.
We'll do it together, using a brain-friendly process that makes working through the random troves of miscellany sooooooo much easier than trying to wing it on your own.
You'll see a real difference from the very first session, and we never make a bigger mess while we're working. So even if life gets busy in between, nothing is left half-done.
Who on earth are you, and can you actually help me?
Hi, I’m Bea 🐝 I'm a Professional Organiser and Certified Decluttering Coach. I also have ADHD, and I'm not naturally organised. I used to panic when people dropped in unannounced, because there were always piles of clean washing on the sofa and half-sipped cups of tea about the place.
Then I found decluttering expert Dana K White, whose No-Mess Decluttering Method finally made dealing with stuff make sense. Turns out it doesn't have to be as complicated as I used to think.
Later, I left my 10+ year career in medicine and trained with her so I could help other people get that same relief from the drudgery of mess management (and it’s the best job I’ve ever had).
My mum’s review didn’t make the cut, but these ones did:
"Bea has helped me with two tricky, cluttery spaces in my house that I just could not get the energy to deal with myself as an exhausted mum of a 1yo... Bea makes a chore into an enjoyable event I'm happy to put on my calendar, and her system makes total sense. There's never a mess to deal with when we're finished--when we're done, we're done. And the feeling of accomplishment is 10/10."
– Lauren VM, Hello Space online client, San Diego
"I had a surprisingly good time being coached by Bea - not what you would expect when tidying up! Bea was very supportive and non judgmental... Now I have a few easy tips and tricks that I have continued to use, and there is a noticeable difference to the clutter and mess level in my house."
– Liz D, Hello Space client, Canberra

HOLIDAY FUN (WITH THE TIDYING DONE)
HOLIDAY FUN (WITH THE TIDYING DONE)
What happens in a session?
We start by working out the answer to "What do I need room to do in here?" Maybe it's fitting everyone around the table for Christmas lunch, or making up the spare bed for your in-laws. That becomes the goal for our work together, and we'll come back to it whenever a decision feels tricky.
Then we begin in the most visible spot, with the easy wins first: rubbish straight into a rubbish bag, obvious donations straight into an old box. You'll see a difference quickly, which makes the rest feel a lot more doable.
You’ll be handling your own stuff while I guide you one item at a time, so you always stay in control and it never feels like too much at once. And we never pull everything out, so there’s no pile waiting for you to deal with on your own after the session is finished (yesssssssss).

This is the first round of Company Ready, so it's about half what I'd usually charge for this kind of support. I'm keeping it small, with just two spots online and two in person in Canberra.
If you'd like the next "we're five minutes away!" text to be no big deal, hit the button and answer a few quick questions by Saturday 31 October (no payment yet). I'll be in touch to confirm the next steps.
Company Ready is for you if:
You're a woman or non-binary person, and maybe you have ADHD (or wonder if you might).
You'd like to feel better about having people over without the frantic scramble beforehand.
You've realised (maybe a while ago) that you have too much stuff, and you want some of it gone.
You've tried decluttering on your own, but ended up exhausted or with more piles than when you started.
You're up for making decisions about your stuff, with some help to make them easier.
You're ready to commit some time and energy before the holidays, knowing it'll be worth it.
You're happy to share: some 'Before' and 'Better' photos, a little testimonial and your feedback on how it went (thank you!)
Company Ready isn’t for you if:
You're not quite ready to let anything go (that's OK, I'll be here when you are).
You'd rather hand it all over to someone else and come home to it magically done, with no input from you.
You’d rather smash it all out in one (exhausting) marathon session instead of doing it quickly, but in manageable bits.
You can't make time for sessions before the holidays this year.
You're after a styling makeover, or help with cleaning, renovations or someone to sell things for you.
You're in crisis, looking for counselling or clinical support, or working through hoarding behaviours.
Questions you might have
-
That's really common. I usually suggest the room where people will spend the most time, like the living room, dining room or guest room. That's where you'll notice the biggest difference when people come over.
-
I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I actually want to see your mess. The way your home looks on an ordinary day tells me a lot about how your brain works when it comes to your stuff, and that helps me identify the strategies that will make the biggest difference for you straight away. So no, please don't tidy up anything for me!
(Love from, a person who has seen it all and truly will never judge you for the state of your home.)
-
No. You make every decision, and I'll never push you into one that feels too hard. If something feels tricky, we'll skip it and move on to something easier. The goal is 'better', not 'perfect'!
-
Company Ready is designed for one room that's cluttered but not overwhelming, which is why I ask a few questions about your home before confirming your spot.
So if ‘cluttered but not overwhelming’ sounds like the space you want to work on, Company Ready can go further than you might expect! As well as our sessions, you've got support in between and help getting donations out the door. And because we never make a bigger mess, every session leaves your space better than before.
-
This time you're not doing it on your own, and we're not pulling everything out of the cupboard. We work through your stuff one small, easy decision at a time, and from the very first session, you're learning how to keep it under control with a low level of effort.
-
Yes, we’ll be teaming up to tackle your clutter! You'll be actively involved in every session, learning the No-Mess Method and making decisions about your belongings. I'll be by your side to keep you moving forward.
One of the biggest benefits of working with me is that you’ll actually be learning and applying these new skills and strategies every time we work together. That's what makes the changes stick long-term!
-
Yes! I work with clients online all the time who get great results, and online decluttering coaching is a specialty of mine. You do the hands-on part, and I guide you through every decision, so you're never left wondering what to do next.
-
My teacher, Dana K White, defines clutter as ‘anything that consistently gets out of control in your home’. In my experience, this usually happens when we have more stuff than we can handle.
What gets out of control for you might look very different to what used to get out of control at my place (clean washing was the worst one!).
My job isn’t to tell you what to keep and what to remove. My job is to help you identify what’s currently out of control in your home and support you to work through it so that your stuff fits in the available space.
Since you’re the expert on all the chaos hotspots in your own home, you’re the best person to decide what counts as clutter for you.
-
You’ll be able to re-schedule sessions yourself anytime in my bookings calendar. And if you run into problems, just let me know as early as you can and we'll find a workaround before 20 December.
-
No, please don't! Once we've decluttered, you'll often find the 'stuff-holding items' you already have are enough for what's left (or that you need a lot less storage than you thought). I see this happen with my clients quite a bit, so I'd gently suggest holding off until we're done.
-
Online: you'll have a body doubling audio to keep you company on the way to the secondhand shop, so they don't sit in the hallway until the next ice age.
In-home: I'll drop your donations off and text you a photo for that wonderful, wonderful dopamine.
-
You're welcome to, but donating is much quicker. If you'd still like to sell some things, set up your accounts (like Marketplace or eBay) before we start, so we can list them during your sessions instead of adding to a 'sell later' pile.
-
Just a black rubbish bag and an old box or bag for donations (plus a laptop, tablet or phone if we're working online).
-
Because Company Ready is short and already about half my usual price, it's paid in full once your spot is confirmed.
Want some help before the holidays?
If inviting people over this silly season (sans panic-tidying) sounds good, I'd love to help you make it happen.
